ASSC Borders?
by goonergetya on July 13, 2010 12:16
I don’t know if there is anything being done in the Borders at the moment but it would be good if we could build up a bit of a community. Obviously it is easy for people in Edinburgh and Glasgow because of the transport links and dense population but we will have to try harder.
The ideas I have proposed are:-
- Watching matches, because it is such a big area I thought maybe have 3 or 4 designated pubs to avoid the same people having to clock a lot of miles. The locations would obviously be relational to the people who show interest.
- Lift sharing, not only for games but also going for AGM’s and events in Edinburgh and Glasgow, this would not only mean more people would consider going but also mean people can chip in for petrol and make it a more affordable option, cut down on the carbon emissions and most importantly mean that more people can have a pint.
- Independent minibus, although it is nice to go down in one of the coaches and have a bit of a sing there are a number of things to worry about from a Borderers point of view. Getting to a coach often adds 3 or 4 hours to your journey. When I went to the Blackburn game it meant that I had to drive 120 miles and then worry about somewhere to leave the car without it being towed. It is only marginally better with games in the North East.
It would be good if we could build up a bit of a community and make things logistically a lot easier!
